Workshop Description

Join our interactive workshop where we explore the importance of fatherhood engagement programming. Through this session, we aim to destigmatize the notion of working with dads and shed light on effective father-specific techniques. By participating, you will gain a deeper understanding of the dynamics and impact of involving fathers in the family unit. Moreover, you will learn strategies to empower fathers in developing strong bonds and effective communication with their child/children. Together, we will foster positive modeling skills, equipping fathers to become inspiring role models for their children.

Learning objectives:

  • Participants will understand what the whole family looks like when the dad is engaged in services.
  • Participants will learn strategies that support and empower fathers.
  • Participants will learn some of the father-specific techniques that work.

Presenter Bios:

James Arthur Moore, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, is an accomplished professional with a diverse background. He completed his ROTC program at Murray State University, earning a BS degree, and went on to obtain an MAT degree from the University of Memphis and an MSSW from the University of Louisville. With eight years of service in the Army, including during Desert Storm, John then spent 15 years as a Diversity Coordinator at IISPS and 10 years as a Medical Social Worker at Norton's Healthcare in Louisville. Currently, he works as a Home-Base Therapist at Family Time, INC in Jeffersonville, Indiana, with a special interest in Fatherhood Engagement.

Albert (AL) Wilson born in Birmingham, Alabama, is an accomplished professional with a diverse background. He completed his ROTC program at the University of Alabama, earning a BS degree from Stillman College. With over 30 years of combined active and reserve Army service, including combat experience in Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, John retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Additionally, he brings valuable experience from his previous role as a Retired Senior Medical Sales District Manager at Abbott Laboratories. Currently, John dedicates his time to ministry and service while working with Family Time for the past two years, making a positive impact on individuals and families.
