In today’s news and media, acts of domestic violence are often depicted and discussed, but rarely the root causes behind them. Join us to talk about this important topic and explore the whats and whys of domestic violence. What is it? How do we recognize it? Why does it happen? What can we do to help?

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will be more familiar with the root causes of domestic violence
  • Participants will be able to clarify misconceptions around domestic violence
  • Participants will have more knowledge about how to support survivors of domestic violence

Presenter Bio:

Whitney Guthrie is the Assistant Director for the Survivor Advocacy program at Firefly Children and Family Alliance. She has been with the agency as a bilingual advocate for 6 years, serving survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking. Prior to this position, Whitney worked in the anti-human trafficking field and ran an international training program for people pursuing overseas ministry work.
