Many of us do not know much about substance use disorder beyond what we see on television or have heard from friends or family who have experienced it. This workshop provides an overview of current substance use disorder science, our best understanding of what recovery looks like, and how recovery may vary for different people or different substances. Come join this workshop if you want to deepen your knowledge about substance use disorder and recovery so that you can better prepare yourselves and your clients for the road ahead.

Learning objectives:

  • Better understand current science on addiction and recovery
  • Learn about the different paths to recovery for different substances
  • Discuss how this information can help in working with clients and their families when substance use disorder is a factor

Presenter Bios:

Kristi Glotzbach, MSW, LCSW, has over 25 years working with child-welfare involved children and their families, in both residential and community-based settings. Kristi is currently the Chief Clinical Officer for Family Ark Jeffersonville, Indiana. She oversees their treatment services, ensuring fidelity to evidenced-based practices and quality services, and is passionate about the prevention of childhood trauma, early screening, and intervention for children who have experienced trauma or intergenerational substance use and abuse.
