Workshop Description

This workshop explores the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the protective power of Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) in shaping long-term health and well-being. Participants will learn how adversity affects brain development and behavior, while also discovering how meaningful relationships and community connections can foster healing and resilience. This session provides both foundational knowledge and practical strategies for applying a trauma-informed, resilience-focused approach in professional and community settings.

Learning objectives:

  • Define Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs).
  • Explain trauma's impact on brain development, the nervous system, and lifelong health outcomes.
  • Recognize the role of relationships, connection, and community in building resilience and promoting healing.
  • Identify practical, trauma-informed strategies that support resilience in individuals, families, and communities.
  • Apply knowledge of ACEs and PCEs to inform professional practice, program development, or community engagement efforts.
