This interactive session offers a comprehensive introduction to policymaking processes and the tools needed to participate. Attendees will explore the different levels of policy and gain a clear understanding of how a bill becomes a law, as well as how administrative rules are created. The session will also provide practical guidance on how to read and interpret legislation and navigate information that is readily available to them, including how to identify key provisions and understand nuanced language. In addition, attendees will learn the basics of how to craft compelling narratives that resonate with policymakers and stakeholders, and will receive a high-level briefing on the current political climate.

  • Participants will understand the mindset of the new customer.

Presenter Bios:

Hannah Joy Alte began her career in campaign politics shortly after graduating in 2018, quickly gaining experience in both electoral strategy and legislative affairs. She transitioned into a role as a legislative assistant, where she deepened her understanding of the policymaking process and built strong relationships within the Statehouse. Over the years, she returned to campaign work as needed, complementing  policy advocacy with political strategy. Hannah Joy later was hired as a lobbyist, representing a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple industries, though her deepest passion remained the advancement child welfare policy. In January 2024, she was appointed Executive Director of the Indiana Association of Resources and Child Advocacy (IARCA), where she has elevated the organization’s visibility and influence at the state level securing major funding wins and positioning IARCA as a leading voice in Indiana’s child welfare industry. 

Lindsey Moss Willey is of counsel at Bose McKinney & Evans and Lindsey is also a principal at Bose Public Affairs Group, where her extensive experience in politics and government allows her to advocate for clients spanning diverse industries. She is knowledgeable on local government issues, providing strategic insights to help government and business leaders navigate complex legislative and regulatory environments through targeted policy solutions and strategic partnerships. She also assists clients with PAC management and compliance. Prior to joining Bose Public Affairs Group and Bose McKinney & Evans, Lindsey served as chief government affairs officer and legislative counsel at Accelerate Indiana Municipalities (Aim). Lindsey led Aim’s legislative team, actively advocating for Indiana’s cities and towns on a broad range of legislation impacting local governments across the state. She also previously held roles in the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office and Indiana Senate Majority Caucus.
