Workshop Description

Safety planning for youth who have engaged in concerning and harmful behaviors is typical for all levels of providers – foster parents, case managers, clinicians, direct care workers, agency management, etc. In this workshop we will identify problematic and harmful sexual behaviors displayed by youth, while conceptualizing risk and needs factors. Through conceptualization we will formulate safety plan rules while considering responsivity in meeting the needs of the youth and address risk factors.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will identify risk and need factors for youth who have engaged in problematic and/or harmful sexual behaviors.
  • Participants will be able to discuss rules and expectations to best meet responsivity of a safety plan.
  • Participants will develop example safety rules in response to case vignettes.
