This workshop will be presented as a two-part, all-day event. Those who register for this session must also register for and attend sessions D5.

This interactive session, "Professionalism: Preparing You for Success in the Workplace," explores key attributes of professionalism essential for career advancement. Participants will engage in dynamic activities, including ranking the top characteristics of professionalism, role plays, and small group discussions, while exploring topics such as communication, reliability, accountability, and organizational skills. Through collaborative learning, participants will gain practical tools to navigate interpersonal relationships, maintain professional boundaries, and enhance workplace effectiveness. By the end of the session, attendees will be equipped with strategies to foster integrity, humility, and dedication in their professional lives.

Learning objectives:

  • Participants will define and understand the 10 Characteristics of professionalism.
  • Participants will understand, What’s in it for Me (WIFM).
  • Participants will develop and learn new opportunities for personal growth.

Presenter Bio:

Linda R. Smith, BS, CSAYP is a graduate of Michigan State University and has over 20 years of experience working with Fortune 500 companies in recruitment, hiring and development of professional staff. Linda currently works with Oaklawn Psychiatric Center in Elkhart and St. Joseph counties, focusing on expansion of Transition Age Youth programing.
